Unituff Through the Years: Tracking the Use of Unituff in Various Industries (Part 2)

seal n peel

When setting out to track the use of Unituff 452 and Unituff OGS heavy-duty peelable protective coatings (formerly called Omni-tuff Seal’n’Peel) in various industries, consider the following projects wherein seal n peel is used:

Ethylene Plant (ExxonMobil, Bechtel-Linde) – Bechtel-Linde was contracted to design and build an ethylene plant for ExxonMobil located in Texas.

Cameron Liquefaction Project – This project involves the construction of additional natural gas liquefaction and export facilities to the existing LNG facility at Hackberry, Louisiana. This project is a joint venture by Cameron LNG, Sempra LNG and Midstream, Total, Mitsui, Japan LNG Investment, Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, and Mitsubishi.

ExxonMobil SCANfining Project (ExxonMobil, Bechtel) – Hydroprocessing or SCANfining technology is a cost-effective solution for the low sulphur requirements of gasoline by removing sulphur with minimum octane loss.

Shell Franklin Project (Shell, Bechtel) – Shell Chemical’s planned construction of a petrochemical complex in the Potter and Centre Townships in Beaver County.

West Indies Galeota Project (BP, Bechtel) – A joint project by Bechtel with BP in Trinidad and Tobago to expand at Galeota Point Terminal with a condensate-handling facility and water facility.

BP West Nile Delta Gas Development Project (BP, Bechtel) – Also a joint project of Bechtel and BP to construct a BP West Nile Delta onshore Gas Processing Plant and terminal near Alexandria, Egypt.

Hanford Waste Treatment Plant (U.S. Department of Energy, Bechtel) – contracted by the US DoE – has taken over this World War II and Cold War facility to immobilise some 56 million gallons of liquid and semi-solid chemical waste, a legacy of nuclear weapons production.

Sabine Pass LNG Terminal (Cheniere, Bechtel) – This is located on over 1,000 acres of land along the Sabine Pass River on the border between Texas and Louisiana, in Cameron, Louisiana. It is a specially made terminal for LNG vessel docking.

Corpus Christi LNG (Cheniere, Bechtel) – Bechtel and Cheniere project that raised the roofs on both tanks at the Corpus Christi, Texas, liquefaction plant.

Al Taweelah Alumina (Emirates Global Aluminium, Bechtel-Petrofac Joint Venture) – This alumina refinery is the first in the United Arab Emirates and only the second in the Middle East, converting bauxite into alumina for aluminium smelters.

LAAC Ethane Cracker (Axiall & Lotte Chemical, CB&I) – A joint industry venture to construct an ethane cracker facility and a monoethylene glycol (MEG) plant located adjacent to Axiall’s existing facilities at Lake Charles, Calcasieu, Louisiana.

Total Port Arthur Ethane Cracker (Total, McDermott) – A joint industry venture to construct an ethane cracker at the Port Arthur Refinery in Texas.

Aside from the above projects, Unituff is also being utilised or at least been tested in the following countries:

  • China
  • Egypt
  • Indonesia
  • Israel
  • Italy
  • Malaysia
  • Mexico
  • Turkey
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • United Kingdom

Based on all the projects and countries tracked above, heavy equipment and construction materials utilise metal parts, and these metal parts kept in storage have to be kept entirely rust-free until they are used.

Thus, is Unituff Seal’n’Peel (Unituff 452) protective coating used in these projects. Once a metal part or construction material needs to be used, the protective coating is simply peeled off like fruit skin, with no cleaning solvents required.

Since brass, stainless steel, and other alloy materials also need the same protective anti-rust covering, another Seal’n’Peel product was developed, and Unituff OGS is made especially for these metals.
